The closure is necessary for a sewer cleaning and maintenance project by the Metropolitan Council. One block of East River Parkway between Franklin Avenue SE and Thornton Street SE is closed to motorized vehicles from Monday, Aug. Grand Rounds Trail and Victory Memorial/Wirth Parkway Detours Parkway and trail traffic have been detoured periodically since the project began in 2021.
